Acupuncture COVID-19 Precautions

Given the history and spread of COVID in China and the reports of Acupuncturists on the ground all over the world, it appears that Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine has been quite helpful in he treatment of COVID patients, helping them stay out of the hospital – especially ICU and intubation, and heal more quickly. Please follow the acupuncture COVID precautions listed below.

However we are NOT treating patients with COVID here at the Lafayette Acupuncture and Functional Medicine clinic. If you or someone you know has come down with COVID, we can schedule a telemedicine session and prescribe Chinese Herbal Medicine and Supplements.

Given the continuing threat of COVID, acupuncturists practice differently then before. At Acupuncture Lafayette, in order to protect ourselves and others with more compromised immune systems, we have implemented the following Acupuncture COVID Precautions:

1. Self Pre-Screening:

If you are experiencing any of the symptoms listed below, please don’t come to the office unless you’ve been sick for at least 3 days and have administered a negative home test for COVID. You are also welcome to schedule a telemedicine session where we can discuss your situation in detail, and prescribe herbs & supplements, and lifestyle recommendations:

    • Cough
    • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
    • Fever
    • Chills
    • Sore throat
    • New loss of taste or smell
    • Diarrhea

    2. Face masks:

    You are welcome to wear a face mask when you enter the office. If you don’t have one, we can offer you one. At this particular point, we are not wearing face masks unless you request us to do so.

    3. Entryway Routine:

    a. Upon entering the building, you are welcome to clean your hands with sanitizer located next to the entrance. We may check your body temperature with a ‘no-contact’ thermometer. Please remove your shoes.

    b. If your temperature is normal, please enter the clinic.

    c. Take off your jacket/sweater and socks, and lie down on the treatment table. If you’d like, you’re welcome to use hand sanitizer again.

    For the safety of you and others, we use the following procedures and technology in the clinic:

    • Disinfection of knobs, switches, and commonly used surfaces with an effective non-toxic cleaner (Pure Green 24), 
    • Clean sheets changed after each patient,
    • Frequent use of hand sanitizer located in every room,
    • UV light air filters for killing airborne germs,
    • HEPA air filtration in each room and hallway.
